Plops goes live: accounts, purchases, and the boring plumbing that makes a game real
There's a moment in every game's life where it stops being a project and becomes a service. For Plops that moment was this release: real accounts, real purchases, and all the unglamorous machinery in between.
What shipped
- Accounts that survive your browser. Guest play still works exactly as before โ but you can now attach an email, set a password, and reset it when you inevitably forget. Your collection, trophies and guild follow you between devices.
- The store, live. Stripe-powered checkout for the Power Players cosmetic theme and credit packs. Purchases land in one ownership ledger, so a skin bought on the web will be owned on Steam and mobile when those shells arrive. Full honesty about what money does and doesn't buy is on its own page โ short version: no gambling, no exclusive power, everything earnable by playing.
- Refunds and support paths. A refund is one support action regardless of storefront. If something goes wrong with a purchase, a human fixes it.
- Tax reporting. Genuinely nobody's favorite feature. Shipped anyway, because "real live service" means the spreadsheet kind of real too.
Why this matters for players
A live game with a working business model doesn't need ads, doesn't need to sell your data, and doesn't need dark patterns โ the game stays free with no catch precisely because the honest paths exist. This is the release that lets the game pay its own server bill.
What's next
More of the fun kind of release: balance passes, new cards, and progress on Toots, our 64-player wind-powered arena. Follow along on the devlog โ or just play a match; it's still three minutes and still free.
