Ranked 2v2 with duo queue: bring a friend, keep the friend

August 2, 2026 ยท by the Plops studio

1v1 tells you how good you are. 2v2 tells you who your friends really are. Here's how the team mode works in Plops, and a few design decisions worth explaining.

Three ways into a 2v2

Why two players and one battlefield

In Plops 2v2, both players share the arena but keep their own hero, their own deck, and their own hand. That split is deliberate. Shared resources make teammates resent each other; separate hands make them coordinate โ€” the good conversations are "I've got the left lane" and "save your tank, I'm about to push," not arguments over who wasted the elixir. The mode is still three minutes, still server-authoritative, still free โ€” it's the same game, but the wins feel twice as big and the losses have a co-author.

The matchmaking honesty note

Duos queue against duos when possible, and ratings drive every pairing โ€” a premade pair of 1200s does not get fed a pair of 800s for breakfast. As always in Plops, money can't buy any of this: the ladder is a skill ladder.
