Eat. Grow. Let it rip. Toots is a free browser arena about the least dignified superpower in gaming: you are a small round creature whose gas trail is a weapon, and the entire map shares one wind that decides where everybody's trouble drifts. Live now at toots.plops.io.
The one idea everything hangs on
Most .io games give you a private weapon. Toots gives everyone a shared one: the wind. Gas you emit doesn't sit where you left it — it drifts, at the speed and direction of a wind that any player can influence by grabbing tokens off the floor. Filling the map's two wind slots with matching directions compounds the speed and can double it; opposing tokens subtract, and a perfect standoff produces a dead-air stalemate where gas just billows in place, growing fat and lazy. A wind shift can hand your beautiful defensive trail to the enemy — or deliver a stranger's cloud of regret directly to your face.
How a life goes
- Eat. The floor is covered in tens of thousands of pellets. Eating grows you, and growing makes your trail longer, thicker, and much longer-lived — a fresh toot trails wisps; a whale drags a quarter-minute streamer.
- Position. Your gas hurts everyone else. Their gas hurts you. The wind decides what "behind you" means, so reading the token queue matters more than aim.
- Let it rip. Boost burns stamina, mass makes you slow, and the camera never zooms out to save you. Getting big is a promise you have to keep.
Arenas hold up to 64 humans; a floor of 100 bots keeps the map alive at 4 a.m. and stands down one-for-one as real players join. The server simulates everything — movement, damage, wind, scores — the browser just sends a stick vector, which is what will make paid arenas honest.

Complete honesty about the player count
Toots launched days ago. Right now the arena is mostly bots, the leaderboard is mostly my friends, and joining means you'll probably set a top-10 score on your first life. We consider this a limited-time offer. The launch post has the full story of the playtests that shaped it — including the session where the verdict was "not enough food, need like 50 times," and we multiplied the food by 44.
